Lori Sokoluk’s bold organic abstracts and loose evocative realism capture just enough detail to launch the mind and heart. Mark-making and a personal vocabulary of images are central to Lori’s recent work, which is inspired by ports, patina, and aging industrial edges of our cities. Intention and intuition play equally important roles in Lori’s creative process. Paint, collage, and various mixed media layer to build a sense of detail in these abstract works. Intuition guides, and discernment hones the finished pieces.
Lori’s enthusiasm and work have been inspiring art students for almost two decades. Lori studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She has taught at the Boston Architectural Centre and Massachusetts College of Art, and continues to teach throughout the Lower Mainland and the United States.
